Mills-Nelson plan wedding


Gerald and Katherine Nelson of Imlay City are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura, to Mike Mills, son of Janel Mills of Grand Blanc, and Steve Mills of Emmett.

Laura is a graduate of Imlay City High School and St. Clair County Community College. She is employed at Clendenan Chiropractic and Style Techís in Imlay City. Mike is a graduate of Capac High School and is employed with Xtreme Power Line in St. Clair County.

Grandparents of the couple are Gary and June Nelson of Imlay City, Carolyn Mills of Capac, Richard Lindsay of Lapeer, Lillie Faye Kaminski of Coeur dí Alene, Idaho and Sue and Paul Kaminski of Armada.

A July wedding is planned.

OíConnor, Carver to wed


Kaely OíConnor and James Carver are excited to announce their engagement.

Kaely is the daughter of Bruce and Cynthia OíConnor of Riley, Michigan. James is the son of Dave Carver of Imlay City, Michigan, and Cindi Carver of Lake Orion, Michigan.

Kaely is a 2015 graduate of Oklahoma City University with a Bachelors in Performing Arts. James is currently the general manager of Semis in Imlay City, Michigan.

An October, 2016 wedding is planned.

Couple plans May wedding


Doug and Jackie Salowitz of Palms, and Ron and Tammy Soule of Lapeer, are proud to announce the engagement of their children, Katelyn Marie and Jacob Andrew.

Katelyn is the granddaughter of Gertrude and the late Titus Salowitz and the late Edward and Esther Pohl, all of Palms.

Jacob is the grandson of William and Patricia Cutcher of Capac and Diane and the late Robert Soule of Imlay City.

Katelyn is employed with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Lapeer as a soil conservationist and Jacob is employed at Mike Pirrone Produce in Capac as farm manager.

A May 2016 wedding is being planned.

Cortright, Sinda engaged


Devon and Ellen Cortright of Simponsonville, South Carolina announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Cortright to Captain Matthew Sinda, son of Gene and Denise Sinda of Allenton.

Heather graduated in 2007 from Hillcrest High School in South Carolina and is a 2011 graduate of the University Of South Carolina School Of Journalism. She received a BA in Visual Communication with an emphasis in military media. She is employed as a Social Media Manager at Milton Ruben Auto Mall in Augusta, Georgia.

Matthew is a 2004 graduate of Capac High School and a 2008 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He received a BS degree in Computer Science. He was commissioned as an Army officer and branched into the Signal Corp. He recently served as a Company Commander of D Company, 551st Signal Battalion at Fort Gordon, Georgia. His next assignment will be in Michigan to obtain his Masterís Degree.

A fall wedding is planned.

Meyers - Holstine engaged

Halme/Ryder plan August wedding


The engagement of Marissa Jan Halme and Colton Tyler Ryder, both of Ann Arbor, is announced by her parents, Robert and Chastity Broecker of Attica and David and Gina Halme of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Parents of the future groom are Robin and Sherry Ryder, of Brown City.

The couple have chosen August 15 for their wedding at Oakwood Wedding Chapel in Oxford. Invitations will be issued for both wedding and evening reception at the American Legion Post 16 in Lapeer.

Marissa is a Political Science Major and Colton is a Nursing Major both at Eastern Michigan University, in Ypsilanti.
