John Jackson, age 80, of Attica, Michigan, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 after an extended illness, at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.

Bernard John Jackson was born November 8, 1937 in Croswell, MI. He was the son of the late William and the late Maude (Harneck) Jackson. John grew up in Croswell and was a graduate of Croswell High School. He married Karen Leigh Grimes on February 15, 1972 in Lexington, Michigan. They have lived in the Attica community for the past 45 years.

John had worked most of his career as a carpet installer. Over the years he worked for Ray’s Carpet in Imlay City and for Independent Floor Covering in Port Huron and in Lapeer.

John was a homebody and liked to spend his free time outdoors. John enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor.

John is survived by his wife, Karen Jackson; three daughters, Shelia (Michael) Jones of Attica, MI, Sherry (David) York of Hartland, MI and Sylvia Jackson of North Street, MI; two sons, Kevin Jackson of Melvin, MI and Kurt Jackson of Attica, MI. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Michael Jones, David Jones, Dean Hines, Alex Jackson, SSgt. Kevin Leavelle, Stephen DeShon, Specialist Larry Stones, Kurt Jackson, Mandi Jackson, and Eddy Jackson; eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Michael, Julius, Karly, Laney, Bella, Ava and Lane; his brother, Dennis Jackson; and four sisters, Mary Hearn, Laura Watson, Karen Wynkoop and Linda Lamineck.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maude Jackson; twin grandchildren, Lynn and Chris; his four brothers, Howard Jackson, Ken Jackson, Jim Jackson and Gary Jackson; and his sisters, Lois Jackson and Doris Parker.

The funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City. Reverend Dr. Marcel Lamb, pastor of the Imlay City United Methodist Church officiated. Interment followed at Attica Township Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
