Thomas James Moore, 84, of Metamora, formerly of Saxtons River, Vermont, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010. He was born July 3, 1926, in Saxtons River, VT, to Raymond H. and Ruth (Ober) Moore. He married Margaret Callahan in Brattleboro, VT on July 26, 1952.

Thomas was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School, Vermont. He earned his bachelors degree from the University of Vermont and his masters in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and recently participated in the WWII Memorial Honor Flight. He was a marketing administrator for the State of Michigan Department of Agriculture. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, as well as numerous other service and professional organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Moore of Metamora; children, Thomas (Cindy) Moore, Jr. of Oak Brook, IL, Jo Ann Moore of Gig Harbor, WA, Michael (Rebecca) Moore of Pulaski, WI, Kathleen (John) Titus of Metamora; 10 grandchildren, Thomas III, Shannon (Jeff), Raymond, Sean, Luke, Kelly, Kaitlyn, Anne, Emily, Colleen; brother, Richard (Helen) Moore of Springfield, VT.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Belknap; brother, Robert Moore; and his parents.

Tom was an avid community supporter and his family encourages you to contribute to the charity of your choice.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Douglas Terrien officiated. Burial was in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.

A Knights of Columbus Rosary was held Thursday evening at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer.
