Ken Hunter, 90, of Imlay City passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010 at home.
Kenneth Harold Hunter was born June 19, 1920 in Lum, Michigan. He was the son of Edgar and Lora Hunter. He grew up in Lum.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He married Helen Ida Weingartz on May 19, 1947 in Imlay City. He delivered fuel for Pure Oil in Imlay City and at Imlay City Oil for several years. Ken was a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 2492, American Legion Post 135 and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City, and he was a retired Imlay City Fireman.
Ken is survived by his son: Michael (Mary) Hunter of Imlay City; 2 daughters: Patricia Arnaud of Imlay City and Colleen (Ken) Arnaud of Arnaudville, LA; 6 grandchildren: Lisa Hunter, Laurie Peters, Amy (Robert) Johnson, Sam (Melissa) Hunter, Katie Richard, and Sara Arnaud; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren;
sister: Leola (Bern) Vlieg of Marianna, FL; and close friend: Evelyn McLean Robinson.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Helen Hunter; parents: Edgar and Lora Hunter; sister: Leela; grandson: Matt Peters; and great-granddaughter: Hunter Johnson.
A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 23, 2010 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden. Father Wayne Ureel will officiate.
The family will be available for visiting 2-5, 6-8 pm Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home - Imlay City.
A Veterans salute will be held on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. and a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
