Shonda Ann Stimer, age 48, of North Branch, formerly of Imlay City, Michigan, passed away after a short illness Saturday, July 17, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint.
She was born December 4, 1961 in Flint, Michigan. She is the daughter of Marion Lee "Stretch" and Beverly Stimer. She grew up in Imlay City and moved to North Branch in 2002. Shonda was a 1980 graduate of Imlay City High School. She went on to study at the University of Michigan where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She then studied for her Master of Arts Degree in Sociology; and was within one class of receiving her Masters of Arts in English from the University of Michigan. She had been employed by and taught Medical Terminology and Medical Transcription at both Davenport College & Baker College. On occasion, she taught English classes. Shonda had worked for a while in an Orthopedic Clinic in Flint as a Medical Transcriptionist.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Attica.
Surviving are her mother: Beverly Stimer of North Branch; a brother: Douglas (Joyce) Stimer of Decker Mich.; her grandmother: Theresa Bowman of North Branch; niece and nephew: Scott Stimer and Alyssa (Bill) Wielen; great nieces and nephew: MaKenzie Wielen and Ethan Wielen. She was preceded in death by her father: Marion Lee "Stretch" Stimer and a brother: Randel D. Stimer.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Attica. Pastor Carl Meier and Pastor Nathan Whipple will officiate. Family will be available for visiting from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Attica.
