Bud Ryckman, 86, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center.
Basil Lyle Ryckman was born on September 8, 1923 in Goodland Township.
He was the son of Basil and Mabel Ryckman. He grew up in the Imlay City area at the corner of Shaw and Van Dyke. Bud attended the Shepherd Country School.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater.
Bud married Evelyn Pearl Blank on October 5, 1946 in Lapeer.
He worked at Bay Huston Towing Company and at Michigan Peat in Minden City as the plant manager. In 1985 he retired from Michigan Peat after 27 years.
Bud is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ryckman of Imlay City; daughters, Patricia (Ronald) Ruby of Hubbard Lake, Jeanette (Dale) Buike of Imlay City, and Joanne (Vic) Moenaert of Imlay City; eight grandchildren, Debra (Mark) Krentz, Bryan (Jamie) Buike, Tracey (Jeff) Combs, Wendy (Scott) VanderPloeg, Shelley (Jeff) Carney, William (girlfriend - Sijan) Purcell, James (Fiance - Tina) Purcell, and Ryan (Angie) Ruby; 15 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Kaitlynn, Emma, Micayla, Cameron, Madison, Claire, Brady, Erin, Ashton, Haley, Hunter, Hannah, Lauren, and Amanda; two brothers, Arnold “Sam” (Jean) Ryckman and William (Eileen) Ryckman; five sisters, Bernice Glover, Winifred VandenBerg, Geraldine (Charles) Rathka, Edith (Duane) Hill and Judy (Joe) Murray.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Mabel Ryckman; in-laws, Rene VandenBerg and Clyde Glover; and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City with burial following at Goodland Township Cemetery.
The family will be available for visiting 2-5 p.m and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 17 at the funeral home.
