Lawrence Maloney, age 80, of Attica passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 after a short illness at the Covenant Hospital in Saginaw.

Lawrence was born March 27, 1930 in Lapeer, the son of John and Helena Maloney. He attended Lapeer Community Schools. He lived most all of his life in the Lum / Attica areas. He was married to Phyllis Rose Keast on October 23, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had been employed by Buick Motors Division of General Motors in Plant # 36. Larry was a Tool Crib Attendant & Machine Operator at Buick Motors in Flint, and retired in 1981 after 32 years. He was a member of the Lapeer American Legion Post 16. During his retirement years, Larry enjoyed trucking cattle to the stockyards for local farmers.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Maloney of Attica; sons, Lawrence (Buck) (Margaret) Maloney of North Branch and Robert (Sandy) Maloney of Lum; daughters, Sharon Pringle of Imlay City and Ruby Rutherford of Imlay City; eight grandchildren, James Pringle, Jeremy Pringle, Ryan Maloney, Buck Maloney, Amanda Rutherford, John Rutherford, Matthew Maloney, and Brandon Butler; five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers, Thomas and Joseph; and by his parents.

Funeral service was held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Jerry Schriber, a friend and local pastor officiated.

A special Veteran’s Salute took place at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
