John Archer, Sr., 89, of Imlay City, previously of Roseville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at his home.
John Ben Archer was born on March 22, 1921 in Jellico, Tennessee. He was the son of James and Ellen Archer. He grew up in Jellico, Tennessee.
He married Lois Davis on April 4, 1947 in Jellico, Tennessee. She passed away in 2005.
John worked at Hydraulic Accessories in Warren and retired in 1979. He also worked at Hudson Motor Cars, Woodall Industries Plastic Molding and at the Atomic Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
He was a member of the Imlay City V.F.W. Post 2492 and Faith Baptist Church in Clinton Township. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
John is survived by his son, John (Wilma Sharff) Archer of Clinton Twp.; daughter, Janet (Bill) Walker of Gladwin; grandchildren, Erin (Peter) Zeiman of Clinton Twp., Todd (Beth) Walker of Clarkston and Wendy (Michael) Muehleisen of Imlay City; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Jenese Perkins of Jellico, Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois; brothers, Henry, Lewis and Hansford Archer and an infant sister, Lucinda Archer.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Clinton Grove Cemetery in Mt. Clemens.
