Jim Brooks, 79, of Imlay City passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Marlette Extended Care Facility.
James Warren Brooks was born January 11, 1931 in Elmodel, Georgia. He was the son of Roy and Eva Ruth Brooks. He has lived in Imlay City since 1965.
He married Judith Leola Hackett on February 5, 1955 in Mt. Clemens.
Jim served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in animal husbandry at the University of Georgia. He also had a teaching certification at Ohio State University. Jim taught high school agriculture for 3 years in Ohio.
Jim was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Imlay City, and a life member of the Imlay City Lions Club. He worked for New York Life Insurance Co., Woodman’s Insurance and from 1989 to 1997 at James Brooks Insurance agency.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Brooks of Imlay City; daughters, Susan (Randy) McNary of Imlay City, Beth Anne (Dale) Simpson of Marlette, Sarah Brooks of Flushing and Jennifer (Glenn) Huffman of Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Erin McNary, John McNary, Meghan McNary, Molly McNary, Stephen McNary, Lee Anne Simpson, Amy Simpson, Theodore Simpson, Ian Huffman, Christopher Huffman and Eric Huffman.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Brooks and a brother, Roy Minter Brooks.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Imlay City. Pastor Vicky Fox will officiate. Burial will follow at Imlay Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City where the family will be available for visiting from 2 - 5 & 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25th, and 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Friday at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Imlay City.
