Helen Maxine Thompson, 80, of Imlay City, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital.
Helen Maxine Shaw was born on April 3, 1929 in Senath, Missouri. She was the daughter of Frank and Minnie Shaw. She grew up in Portageville, MO. She is a high school graduate of Pontiac High School. Helen has lived in Imlay City since 1987.
She married Joseph Bernard Thompson on January 7, 1947 in Pontiac. He died in August 1988.
Maxine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. She was a Lamb Steele Senior Center line dancer in Imlay City. Maxine enjoyed bowling at Cedar Lanes on a league, playing card games and puzzles at Lamb Steele and she loved to garden.
She was a homemaker most of her life. She was a bookkeeper/secretary for her husband at Acme Sewer Cleaner in Pontiac.
Maxine is survived by her six sons, William (Laurie) Thompson of Clarkston, James (Linda) Thompson of Pontiac, Joseph (Marilee) Thompson of Middleton, Frank (Tracey) Thompson of Grand Blanc, John (Shelley) Thompson of Waterford, and Michael (Kim) Thompson of Waterford; three daughters, Nancy (Gary) Peterson of Somerset, WI, Jane (Nik) Karaguleff of West Bloomfield, and Mary (Paul) Sharkey of Waterford;. 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Louise Mihay of Seattle, WA, Shirley Acosta of Pontiac, Linda Powers of Ortonville, Frances Warner of Clarkston and Joni Stafford of Three Rivers.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph B. Thompson; her parents, Frank and Minnie Shaw; sister, Peggy Winstead; brothers, Wayne Shaw, and infant brothers Billy and Doyle Shaw.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. Father Ezequiel Mondragon will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Rosary service was held Tuesday evening at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
