Edward Leon Gunn, 80 of Almont, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Henry Ford Hospital, in Clinton Township, of congestive heart failure.

Mr. Gunn was born on May 9, 1929, the son of William Edgar Gunn and Annie (Dever) Gunn and raised on Garners Creek in Dickson County, TN.

Edward Leon Gunn and Berniece (Bunny) Wallace were married on May 21, 1948 in Tennessee City, TN. They soon made their home in Warren, where he entered into the skilled trade of Machinist/Toolmaker.

He was employed as a Machinist/Toolmaker by Research Design Service (MI); Atlas Tool (MI); Fraser Automation (MI); S&M Tool (MI); Sago Industries (MI); and Schrader Automotive of Dickson, TN. He was employed as Plant Manager at National Lock Co. (Waverly, TN) and Allied Machine Co. (Waverly, TN) He was Owner/Partner of Mid-Tn Machine & Tool Co. (McEwen, TN) and Absolute Machine & Tool Co. (Sterling Heights, MI) He designed and built special machines and fixtures for the Automotive, Aerospace and Defense Industries.

After retirement Mr. Gunn enjoyed gardening, woodworking & grilling for family and friends. He was a big baseball and football fan and always enjoyed a good game. He was affectionately known as “Pa” to the grandchildren and they enjoy his company as much as he did theirs.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Berniece (Wallace) Gunn; daughters, Pamela (John) Zimmer of Brighton, Vicki (Ron) Enos of Almont; sons Russell (Carol) Gunn of Capac, Gary (Michele) Gunn of Pearland, TX; sister Velma Chappell Dunn of Knoxville, TN; sister Evelyn Wallace of Nashville, TN; sister Helen Albert of Leicester, NC; brother Bill Gunn of Dickson, TN; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 expected great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his sisters Lorene Donegan and Eva Roberts and brothers James (J.W.) Gunn and Ernest Gunn.

A memorial service will be held in Dickson, TN on February 27.
