Mildred “Martha” Bollaert of Allenton, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township at the age of 88 years.

Mildred was born March 17, 1921 in Delta, Ohio, a daughter of Arthur and Emerence (nee DeClerq) Bassier. On November 30, 1940, Mildred married Maurice Edward Bollaert at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Allenton. Martha was a lifelong area farmer with her husband. She loved her family and her home and enjoyed gardening and baking, especially for her family and friends.

Martha is survived by her children, Richard (Sandra) Bollaert of Washington, James (Katherine) Bollaert of Attica, Harold Bollaert of Allenton, Joyce Kaufman of Capac, Donald Bollaert of Allenton and Linda (Byron) Vollen of Allenton; brother, Louis Bassier of Flint; sisters, Margaret Kudzia and Betty Bollaert, both of Allenton; and sister-in-law, Eva Bassier of Almont; grandchildren, Richard A., Bradley C., Terrie L., Darin, Blane, Tyler, Michael and David Bollaert, Ronald W. and Ryan P. Kaufman, Jody (Dan) Veith, Brett M. and Brandy J. Vollen; Jodi, Holly, Hannah, Blake and Joseph; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Martha was predeceased by her husband, Maurice on May 2, 1975; brother, Fred Bassier; son-in-law, Ron Kaufman; and brothers-in-law, Frank Kudzia and Leo Bollaert.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 883 Capac Road, Allenton with the Rev. Fr. Gerry Frawley celebrant. Burial will followed in West Berlin Cemetery, Berlin Township.
