~ Dorothy Schultz, 86 ~

Dorothy Schultz, 86, of Attica, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center.

Dorothy Mary Hall was born on December 19, 1923 in Imlay City. She was a daughter of Harold and Mary Hall.

Dorothy grew up in Imlay City and spent most of her life in the community. She is a graduate of Imlay City High School Class of 1941.

She earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Pontiac. Dorothy was the night charge nurse for 30 years at Almont Community Hospital from 1962 through the mid 1990s

Dorothy married Ivan T. Schultz on May 16, 1949 in Chicago, IL. He passed away in 1990.

Her family owned and operated Halls Market in Downtown Imlay City from the 1920s through the 1980s.

She was a Girl Scout Leader and Girl Scout cookie coordinator, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Attica.

Dorothy is survived by sons: Carl (Chris) Schultz of Attica, Gary (Linda) Schultz of Imlay City; daughters: Sue (Daniel) Brown of Attica and Karen (Henry) Cook of Attica; 12 grandchildren: Katherine Schultz, Gracey Schultz, David Cook, Amy Rice, Michael Cook, Christine Cook, Mary Cook, Jonathan Cook, Matthew Brown, Melissa Olsen, Mark Schultz, and Joel Schultz; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ivan Schultz and her parents Harold and Mary.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Thursday, January 7, 2010 at The First Baptist Church of Attica. Pastor Nathan Whipple pastor of the First Baptist Church of Attica will officiate. Burial will follow at Imlay Township Cemetery.

Friends may call Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City where the family will be available for visiting from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. today (Wed., Jan. 6).
