Bob Voss, 86, of Attica passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center.

Robert Wayne Voss was born on October 6, 1923 in Lake, Michigan. He was the son of John and Tena Voss. He grew up in Lake, Michigan and attended school in Barryton. He had lived in Attica since 1961.

He married Betty Stenzel on June 20, 1947 in Romeo.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II.

He was a member of the Almont Village Council, a volunteer on the Almont Fire Department, and on the Attica Planning Commission.

Bob had worked at Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), Almont Mfg. Grey Iron Foundry for 10 years in Imlay City, hauled canned milk from farmers, worked at the gas station in Almont, for Surge Dairy Farm Equipment Sales, farming and gravel mining.

He liked to bowl, play cards and bingo at Lamb-Steele. Bob was a state champion for Michigan Horse Shoe Pitching Competition.

Bob is survived by his wife, Betty Voss of Attica; sons, Mark (Lydia) Voss of Attica and John (Christine) Voss of Dryden; daughter, Kendra Voss of Attica; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Charles Voss and Tom Voss, both of Lake, Michigan. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Janine Voss in 1964; brothers, Farond Voss and Doyle Voss; and sisters, Annie McClung, Christina Singleton and Eva Thompson.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 7 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Pastor Cliff Schroeder, pastor of Attica United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial followed at Attica Township Cemetery.
