Neal Reside, 90, of Imlay City, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at Whispering Pines Adult Foster Care Home after an extended illness.

Neal Martin Reside was born on May 4, 1919 in Goodland Township. He was the son of Kenneth Martin and Lena Mae Reside. He grew up in the Imlay City area and spent most of his life in Imlay City.

Neal was a graduate of Imlay City High School class of 1938.

He served his country in the U.S. Army for a short time before World War II.

He married his first wife Lois Pugh in 1945. She passed away in 1952. His second wife Lela Cleone Duckwitz passed away in 1985.

He pitched for Imlay City High School baseball and pitched in the professional leagues for a short time.

Neal retired from Buick Motors in Flint where he was a Quality Control Inspector.

Neal is survived by one daughter, Lori Gillis of Lake Worth, Fla.; a stepson, Gary Folsom of Clio; daughter-in-law, Gail Reside of Dryden; brother, Bruce (Ruth) Reside of Attica; sister-in-law, Doris Reside of Imlay City; nine grandchildren, Lois (Dave) Mietz, Amber (Brian) Wirsing, Angela (Scott) DeBolt, Andrea (Craig) Reside, Amanda (John) McLean, Kurt Hill, Dishon Gillis, Jade Gillis and Emerald Gillis; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by first wife Lois and second wife Cleone; son, Barry Reside; 2 brothers, Earl Reside and Wayne Reside; and an infant sister, Velma Reside.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 17 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Pastor Larry Kluck officiated. Burial followed at Imlay Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Whispering Pines or Hometown Hospice.
