Eileen Van Horn, 66, of Attica, previously of Imlay City, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at her home.
Eileen Marie Exelby was born on October 19, 1942 in Chelsea, Michigan. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Dorotha Exelby. She spent her younger years in Royal Oak.
Eileen is a graduate of Almont High School class of 1962. She had spent the last 31 years in Attica.
She married John Mark Van Horn on August 28, 1965 in Almont. John passed away in 1975.
Eileen was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She helped plan trips and organized fundraisers. She retired in 2007.
She was a deli and bakery clerk for the IGA store in Almont for 15 years. She worked at Almont Community Hospital from 1962-1966 and she was a playground aide at Imlay City Community Schools in the early 1970s.
Eileen is survived by her two daughters, Jean Marie Van Horn of DeQueen, Ark. and Lynn Renee Van Horn of Attica; and brothers, Kenneth Exelby of Almont and Mark (Lucy) Exelby of Almont. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Van Horn; daughter, Susan Van Horn; and parents, Ken and Dorotha Exelby.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 8 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Pastor Jerry Schriber will officiate. Burial will follow at Almont Cemetery.
Friends may call Muir Brothers Funeral Home where the family will be available for visiting from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. today (Wed., Oct. 7) and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday.
