Lucy Laarman, 83, of Imlay City passed away after an extended illness Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Brianís House Hospice Center in Davison.

Lucy Catherine Hannan was born July 22, 1926 in Imlay City the daughter of Matthew and Mabel Hannan. She lived most all of her life in the Imlay City area. She graduated from Imlay City High School in the class of 1944. She attended Baker Business School in Flint. She married Martin J. Laarman on September 27, 1947 in Imlay City. Martin died on July 1, 1996. She had been employed as a bookkeeper at Imlay City Oil and at the Lapeer County Co-op in Imlay City.

She was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden, the Society of Hope & Charity, American Legion Auxiliary, HOSTS and the adopt-a-grandparent program at Imlay City Schools.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Randy) Bardwell of Jackson; son, Dennis Laarman of Imlay City; sister, Grace (Dave) Matthews Fickes of Imlay City; grandchildren, Tara Laarman, Lance Laarman, Kristin (Josh) Brennan, and Samantha Allen; and sisters-in-law, Marge Laarman, Annabelle Walker, Josephine Schaaf, Katelyn Schaaf, and Alma Laarman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Laarman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Chuck) Warner, Margaret (Lawrence) Brinker, Josephine (William) Treadgold, Patricia (Les) Draves, Leo Matthews, Leonard Laarman and Jerry Laarman.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today (Wed., Sept. 9) at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden. The Reverend Father Charles Ratnatsamy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City.

Scripture service was held Tuesday evening at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City.
