Elaine Plumley, 80 of Dryden, passed away August 22, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Elaine Marie Homant was born November 21, 1928 in Alpena. She was the daughter of Lois and Yvonne Homant. She grew up in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School as the salutatorian of the class of 1946.

Elaine married Dale Plumley on June 19, 1948 in Alpena. Dale and Elaine raised their family in Royal Oak.

Dale and Elaine retired to St. Petersburg, FL at the age of 60. Elaine graduated from St. Petersburg Vocational Tech School as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then used her degree to work at a St. Petersburg nursing home.

Her husband Dale passed away August 20, 1995 and Elaine eventually moved back to Dryden.

Elaine was an active member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden and Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, Florida.

She is survived by her children, Adele Phipps of Dryden, Mike (Connie) Plumley of Shelby Twp., Steve (Jeanne) Plumley of Melvin, Bruce Plumley of Dryden, and Paul (Elizabeth) Plumley of St. Petersburg, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister, Jeanette (Jack) Rivard of Florida and brother, James (Francis) Homant of Alpena. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Plumley; parents, Louis and Yvonne Homant; 5 brothers and son-in-law Jack Phipps.

A funeral service was held Monday, August 24 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden. Father Wayne Ureel and Father Matt Kafka officiated. Burial followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden.

Arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City.
