Francis Jill Emmons, 71, of Grayling passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the Grayling Nursing Center.

She was born April 19, 1937 in Saginaw the daughter of Chester and Lena Thompson.

She attended Lelanaw school and later attended Albion College where she met James Smith Clark II. They were married in August of 1958.

As well as being a mother Jill was involved with helping the Republican Party Leader Phil Crane. She also helped at the Air Force Preparatory School and in the summers worked with the Board of Trustees in Bay View, MI. It was there where she met the love of her life Bob Emmons and it was there in Grayling where she taught adult education.

She loved her life with Bob, later she suffered a stroke, and resided at the Grayling Nursing Center, where the nursing staff took excellent care of her.

She is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Jeff) Roush; daughter-in-law, Ann Clark; grandchildren, Tommy, A.J., Nicole, Amanda, Andrew, and Alyssa; step-children, Virginia (David) O’Hara, Tom (Kim) Emmons and Pam Ryan; step-grandchildren, Heather, Sean, Ryan, Eric, Casey, Joshua, Stephen, and Cody; step-great-grandchildren, Owen, Isabella and Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Jimmie Clark; and three sisters, Aileen, MaryAnne and Jean.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2 from 1-2 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont. Burial will be made in Almont-Hough Cemetery.
