Elva McKee, 83, of Imlay City passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio.

Elva Irene Lindke was born on June 6, 1925 in Goodland Township. She was the daughter of Christie and Alice Lindke.

Elva grew up in Goodland Twp. She attended Flansburg School in Goodland Twp. She was a graduate of Imlay City High School, graduating at the age of 16.

Elva attended County Normal and Oklahoma State. She earned her Bachelors from Eastern Michigan University. She studied for her master’s degree also from Eastern Michigan University. She was a school teacher in Lum, Attica, Brown City and Imlay City. She had worked for Imlay City Schools from 1967-1987 where she primarily taught kindergarten.

She married Elmer Gilbert McKee on December 28, 1948 at East Goodland United Methodist Church.

Elva was a member of Imlay City United Methodist Church and a Past President of the UMW (United Methodist Women), a Sunday school teacher and a Lapeer County Retired School Personnel.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer McKee of Imlay City; sons, Ronald (Gloria) McKee of Washington, Illinois, Mark McKee of Holly, and Wesley (DeLite) McKee of Lambertville; daughters, Lois McKee of Lambertville and Ann (Paul David) Heilborn of Pleasant Lake; 11 grandchildren, Matthew McKee, Joshua McKee, Jason McKee, Daniel McKee, Rebecca McKee, Allen McKee, Lauren Heilborn, Evan Heilborn, Jillian Heilborn, Hayden McKee, and Graycen McKee; 4 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Isabella, Clayton and Jase; brother, Albert (Sandy) Lindke of Zephyrhills, Florida; and sister, Sara (Rev. James) Weiss of Macomb. She is preceded in death by her parents, Christie and Alice Lindke; a brother, Raymond (Lillian) Lindke; and sister, Ruth (Burl) Brown.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 28 at Imlay City United Methodist Church. Pastor Kevin Harbin of Imlay City United Methodist Church officiated. Burial followed at Imlay Twp. Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Imlay City United Methodist Women or New Tribes Missionary Training.

Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City.
