Dan Zuhlke, 78, of Imlay City, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

Daniel Zuhlke was born on June 14, 1930. He was the son of Albert August and Mary Ellen Zuhlke. He grew up in Imlay City and spent most of his life there. He was a Imlay City High School graduate class of 1947.

He married Joan Beverly Shuart on August 4, 1949 in Lapeer.

Dan was a member of the Lapeer Regional Medical Center Pulmonary Unit Harmonica Group. He worked at Van Dyke Welding in Imlay City for 20 years until the early 1980s and worked 2 years at Gamble’s Store in Imlay City. He helped his son-in-law with his landscaping business and Dan loved to fish, play harmonica and woodworking..

Dan is survived by his wife, Joanne Zuhlke of Imlay City; sons, Kevin (Vonda) Zuhlke of Brown City, Daniel (Sandy) Zuhlke of Otisville, and Chuck (Donna) Zuhlke of Brown City; daughters, Patty (Larry) Halstead of Imlay City and Nancy (Les) Dutcher of Imlay City; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Pfeil, Olabelle (Jack) Dotson and Frances Klemp; sisters-in-law, Arlene Zuhlke of Imlay City, Louise Zuhlke of Imlay City, and Shirley (Donald) Terpening of Marquette; and brother-in-law, Larry (Dorothy) Shuart of Gladwin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary; brothers, Ronald Zuhlke, Robert (Hazel) Zuhlke, and Jerry “Jake’’ Zuhlke; and brothers-in-law, John Pfeil and Edwin Kemp.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 24 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Pastor Maureen Baker of Brown City United Methodist Church officiated. Burial followed at Imlay Township Cemetery.
