Robert H. Liddie, 91, of Imlay City, was welcomed into heaven on December 18, 2008.

He was born along the banks of Lick Creek in Powe, MO and moved to Flint on his sixth birthday. He drove a school bus his senior year at Grand Blanc in 1936. He began working at Chevy Plant 4 and married DeMaris Redman 69 years ago.

Daughters Ramona and Bobbie were born and Bob was drafted in the U.S. Cavalry where he said “the only good horse was a dead one.’’ After World War II, daughter Cletta arrived.

Bob worked at Happy Valley, Otterburn and GM Parts Division Local 659 for close to 40 years. He retired in 1976 and enjoyed playing euchre on his lunch break. He and Dee farmed in Gaines over 60 years. He served on the school board at Gaines Consolidated School and was a frequent euchre player in Durand and Swartz Creek Senior Citizen’s Center. He was an active member of Hope Ev. (Swartz Creek) and Christ Ev. (Imlay City) Lutheran Churches. He and Dee enjoyed traveling throughout the southern and western states in the winter months. He attended farm auctions in the summer and was usually found in his shed working on Farmall As and Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, DeMaris of Imlay City; daughters, Ramona Hepfner of Rochester and Cletta Liddie-Juip of Imlay City; grandchildren, Sandra Hepfner of Rochester, Brad (Janine) of South Lyons, Zac and Lawren of Imlay City and Holly of Fishers, IN.; great-grandchildren, Casey and Caty Callahan of Rochester Hills, and Hailey and Emiley Hepfner of South Lyons; and special neighbor “kids’’ Jim and Carolyn Jones, LeRoy and Evadeen Powell and Jerry and Verna McClure. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Liddie; brothers, John and Bill; daughter, Bobbie Kay; and namesake grandson, Robert Andee Juip.

The family wishes to thank all those at Evangelical home in Ft. Gratiot and Medilodge of Yale who participated in his care for the last year and a half.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 20 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Pastor James Langebartels of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church officiated. Burial followed at Arcadia Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Seven Ponds, Swartz Creek or Senior Citizen’s Center.
