Age: 88
Cleon Charles Hoover, 88, of Mussey Township, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born August 2, 1919, in Birmingham, Michigan, the son of the late Cleon and Adelaide (Warner) Hoover.

His marriage to Patricia L. Peabody was February 22, 1947, in Birmingham. Pat passed away September 16, 1996.

Clem served his country as a Platoon Sergeant in the United States Army at Camp Wolters, TX, from July 1941 - April 1943.

He loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours at his camp in Newberry and in his flower gardens, where at one time he cared for 24 gardens and over 430 rose bushes.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jane of Capac, David and Karen of Golden, CO, and Charles of Empire; daughter-in-law, Denise of Woodstock, IL; six grandchildren, Ben (Kelly), Jake, Patrice, Buck, James and Laura; three sisters, Helen Masch of Port Huron, Marian Woodard of Lansing and Hazel Stephenson of National City; and friends, Gary and Rory (Kahn) Heath and family of Wilson, W,. and Jim and Pam (Kahn) Reum and Mareth of Rockford, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him death are sisters, Esther Hay, Aley Nehls and Greta Toothacker; brother, Arthur Hoover; and special friend, Josephine Kahn.

His family honors the memory of Clem and invites you to attend funeral services at 11 a.m. today (Wed., July 23) at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac. Pastor Joan Christoffers will officiate. Burial will be in Capac Cemetery, Capac. Pallbearers will be Ben, Jake, Buck and James Hoover, Gordon Bade, Bill Walker, Richard Yanuska and Frank LeGrow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Johnís Lutheran Church Youth National Gathering trip or In-House Hospice Solutions.
