Joseph Lendway, 79, of Dryden, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 at his home.
Joseph Michael Lendway III was born on July 18, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Joseph Michael and Loretta Mary (Heffron) Lendway II. He traveled around the country as a youth with his family. He graduated from Berkley High School. Joseph attended Baker College in Highland Park.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed in Greenland.
Joseph married Jean Louise Storey on May 14, 1955 in Royal Oak.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richmond He was an Electronics Engineer at the GM Research & Development Center at the GM Tech Center in Warren. He retired in 1998 after 42 years.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Jean Lendway of Dryden; sons, Joseph M. Lendway IV of Dryden and John R. Lendway of Shelby Twp.; daughters, Jeanne (Roger) Vuylsteke of Sterling Heights, Mary (Charles) Kanaziz of North Branch and Anne M. Lendway of Rochester; and 4 grandchildren, Dominic G. Vuylsteke, Bridgette Vuylsteke, Lauren Kanaziz and Rachel Kanaziz. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Monica Vuylsteke.
Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, July 16 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richmond. Father Steven McDonald of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church officiated. Burial followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden.
Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City.
