Leda L. Parker, 86, a lifelong resident of Texas passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at The Pines in Lapeer with her family and friends at her side.

She was born December 23, 1921 in Simms, TX the daughter of George Dalton and Evie Lee (Murdock) Corley. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class and married Lenoy Parker on July 8, 1944.

Leda was a bank teller for First National Bank in New Boston, TX for 35 years. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in New Boston, TX. She lived at Casa Maria in Imlay City until 2008 when she moved to The Pines in Lapeer. She loved to crochet afghans, making well over 100 including one for every family member and several for charity.

She is survived by her son, Travis William “Bill’’ (Billie) Parker of New Boston, TX; her daughter, Kay (Jerry) Chapin of Almont; six grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Frieling, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Chapin, Steven (Rebecca) Chapin, Melinda (Caleb) Blaha, Patrick (Michelle) Parker and Jenny (Brandon) Henderson; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lenoy in 1991; brother, Audavee Corley; and sister, Edra Kruse.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 17 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont. Chaplain Burt Davis of Hartland Hospice officiated. A funeral service will also take place at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home in New Boston, TX on Saturday followed by burial in Sandhill Cemetery in Simms, TX. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174 or Franklin Graham’s (Billy Graham Ministries) Samaritan Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
