Alberta Hotchkiss

Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2008
Age: 83
Alberta Hotchkiss, age 83, of Attica was received into her Heavenly Father’s arms on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. Alberta Heath was born on December 5, 1924, a daughter of Oscar and Emma Heath. Alberta was ever faithful to her loving Father in Heaven, as her health began to decline, since a stroke in 2005. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Alberta was a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. She worked at Pontiac Truck and Bus, which built amphibious vehicles for the “War Effort”. She drove them off the assembly line. She raised her family before returning to work in her 40’s. She worked at the Hamill Seat Belt Plant in Imlay City and at the T.R.W. Plant in Romeo until she retired in 1988. After her retirement she spent time enjoying being a grandmother and visiting with her children and grandchildren around the United States. She loved being out of doors enjoying her flowers and birds and her cat. Alberta was a charter member of the Lapeer Church of God.

Alberta is survived by her sister, Ila Barber of Lapeer; her six children, Diane (Larry) Babcock of Lapeer, Debra (Allen) Guelzo of Paoli, PA, Gregory (Glenda) of South Bound Brook, NJ, Cindy (Greg) Nyhoff of Modesto, California, Lori (Peter) Worn of Florence, SC and Carol (Dennis) VanDyk of Imlay City; twenty grandchildren; Justin (Claudia), Jerusha (Jon), Jenae, Alexandra (Jonah), Elyse (Derek), Joshua (Patricia), Andrew, Jonathan, Anna, Lindsey, Phillip, Elizabeth, Kali, Thomas, Jaclyn, Luke, Erich, Matthew, Peter and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter; Tina May; her parents; Emma and Oscar; her brothers; Lloyd, Andy, Elvin, Leonard and George; her sisters Dorothy, Rosella and Mary.

Many thanks to all the loving care givers and friends, especially Gladys, Debbie, LeAnne, Renee and Marilyn for their time, friendship and love. Special thanks to Pastor Ken VanderHorst and the church elders who came to pray, offer comfort and communion.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Imlay City Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Kenneth VanderHorst officiated interment followed at Attica Township Cemetery.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to the Gideon’s Bible Association or the American Bible Society.

Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City.
