Roman Grucz II, 81, of Imlay City passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center.

Roman Stanley Grucz was born on October 28, 1926 in Hamtramck. He was the son of Roman and Bernice (Kadykowski) Grucz. He attended high school in Detroit.

Roman previously lived in Hamtramck, Detroit, Fraser and Centerline then moved to Imlay City in 1989.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater.

He married Bess Marie Bock Miller on January 12, 1946 in Detroit.

Roman retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Co. after 35 years, retiring in 1982 as a Supervisor.

Roman was a member of Elks Lodge in Harper Woods, MI Bel-Pioneers of America and belonged to the Amateur Radio League (Ham Operator).

He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling and working on his computer.

Roman is survived by his wife, Bess of Imlay City; daughter, Marge (David) Miller of Attica; sons, Roman (Pam) Grucz of Traverse City, George (Kathy) Grucz of Grand Rapids and Nicholas (Kathleen) Grucz of Almont; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Helen Grocki of Rochester Hills and Delphine Farnsworth of Lapeer. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at First Baptist Church of Attica with Pastor Nathan Whipple officiating.

Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
