Wilbert Kalbfleisch, 77, of Imlay City, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at his home.

Wilbert Lee Kalbfleisch was born on July 16, 1930 in Maple Valley. He was a son of Lee and Helen (Weber) Kalbfleisch. He attended Deanville Country School and graduated from Brown City High School.

Wilbert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He spent most of his life in Imlay City.

He married Norma Jean Muxlow on June 30, 1956 in Goodland Township. Norma passed away in 1999. Wilbert married Bernice Johnson McCumons on January 22, 2000 in Brown City.

Wilbert was employed at Almont Mfg. Gray Iron Foundry in Imlay City until it closed. He retired as a press operator in 1987 from Plastifiber in Marlette.

He was a devoted family man. He was a member of North Goodland Baptist Church and he held several board positions at North Goodland Baptist Church.

Wilbert is survived by his wife, Bernice Kalbfleisch of Imlay City; his daughters, Cheryl Ann (Lenny) Mitchell of Apopka, FL. and Deanna Scott of Marlette; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Scott, Matthew Scott, Eric (Melissa) Mitchell, and Andrea (Christopher) Beebe; 2 great-grandchildren, Nathan Allen Mitchell and Kaden James Beebe; sister, Donna Bradshaw of Lapeer; and brothers, Glenn Kalbfleisch of Romeo and William (Joyce) Kalbfleisch of Lapeer. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Norma Jean Kalbfleisch.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 3 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Pastor Donald Krohn and Pastor Brent McCumons officiated with interment at Burnside Cemetery.
