Esther Hollenbeck, 90, of Imlay City, passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 after an extended illness.
Esther Mary Makos was born on February 6, 1918 in Lincoln Park, where she grew up and attended schools.
Esther married Noble Hollenbeck on June 19, 1937 in Capac.
She was very active in the St. John Lutheran Church in Capac and was a member of the Altar Guild. Esther worked at Chuck Wagon in Dryden, worked at Active Homes in Marlette and was a housekeeper at a dental office and insurance agency. She also assisted her husband on their farm.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Marge (Emery) White of Romeo; sons, Robert (Beverly) of Imlay City, Allen (Maureen) of Imlay City and Leslie (Sue) of Attica; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Godo of Grand Rapids; and sister, Viola Smith of Zephyrhills, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble in 1970 and a son, Dale in 1996.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 12 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Capac. Pastor Joan Christopher officiated. Burial followed at the Imlay Township Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City.
