Ray Stern, 68, of Imlay City, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2008 after a short illness at Genesys Hospice Center in Goodrich.
Ray James Stern was born July 22, 1939 in Capac. He was a son of Donald R. and Goldie A. (Sass) Stern. He grew up in Capac. He attended school at Capac Community Schools. He lived most all of his life in the Capac and Imlay City areas.
He was married to Sally Marie Dawson on June 17, 1961 in Capac. Sally died on March 29, 2006.
Ray had been employed by Pontiac Motors Trailing Axle in Pontiac. He retired after 28 years. He was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Imlay City and a Charter Member of Imlay City Eagles.
Surviving are two sons, Tracy (Margaret) Stern of Peck and Audey Stern of Imlay City; two daughters, Penny (Patrick) Klein of Lapeer and Raney (Kenneth) Miracle of Brown City; and 3 brothers, Gary (Norma) Stern of Lapeer, Dennis (Karla) Stern of Washington and Mark Stern of Capac. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Goldie Stern.
Memorial services will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9 at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Imlay City. The Reverend Alan Casillas, Pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends may call at the St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Imlay City where the family will be available for visiting from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. A Veteran Salute will follow the memorial service in the church courtyard.
