Emma Sweet, 95, of Laingsburg, formerly of Imlay City, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008 after an extended illness at her granddaughter’s home in the Laingsburg/Perry, Michigan area.

Emma Eleanora Miller was born November 2, 1912 in Lapeer. She was a daughter of Vernon H. and Cecile (Johnson) Miller. She had been employed by Almont Community Hospital over 4 years. She had lived at length in Almont, Imlay City, Lapeer and Laingsburg.

Emma was married to Bruce Greenman on August 7, 1946. Bruce died on October 2, 1968. She married Harvey Sweet on May 22, 1970. Harvey died on June 30, 1993.

She was a member of Imlay City United Methodist Church; a charter member of VFW Post 2492 in Imlay City and of the Royal Neighbors of America Camp #1760 in Lapeer.

Emma enjoyed reading, working puzzles, listening to early rock-n-roll. She really liked Elvis Presley.

Surviving are her sons, Martin G. (Nelda) McSkulin of Lapeer; grandchildren, Debra (Don) Kipper, Martin (Jamie) McSkulin, Robert (June Burge) McSkulin, and Joseph (Kris) McSkulin; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Bruce Greenman in 1968 and Harvey Sweet in 1993.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 28 at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Pastor Kevin Harbin of the Imlay City United Methodist Church officiated. Burial followed in the Ferguson Cemetery in Almont.
