Joan Quimby, 72, of Imlay City, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 after an extended illness at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Joan Rebecca Densmore was born January 27, 1935 near Homer in Calhoun County. She grew up in Homer and graduated in the Class of 1952 from Homer High School.

She was married to Wesley Jason Quimby on December 13, 1952 in Angola, Ind. Joan and Wesley moved to Imlay City in 1963. She had been employed by Vlasic Foods in Imlay City. She retired after 25 years of service to Vlasics. She was a member of Imlay City First Baptist Church. She was a very strong supporter of her four sons’ academic and athletic endeavors.

Surviving are her husband, Wesley Quimby of Imlay City; sons, Jerry (Carol) Quimby of Imlay City, Randy (Becky) Quimby of Grand Rapids, Douglas (Darcy) Quimby of Davison, and David (Beth) Quimby of Freeland; 9 grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Elizabeth, Amy Striplin, Stephen, Eric, Kaylie, Kelsie and Keegan; and two great-grandchildren, Randon Striplin and Evan Striplin. Also surviving are five sisters, Dorothy Kenoyer, Mabel Ebereng, Arlene Heath, Betty Lou Stevens and Charlene Dewitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ellie Densmore; and by 2 brothers, Ralph and Lawrence Densmore.

Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 26 at the Imlay City First Baptist Church. Reverend Gary Freel, Pastor of the Imlay City First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment of her cremated remains will follow at the Imlay Township Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Imlay City First Baptist Church, 170 Weston Street, where the family will be available for visiting from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Saturday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Imlay City First Baptist Church, 170 Weston St., Imlay City or Heartland Hospice, 1321 Linden Rd., Ste. B, Flint, MI 48532. Arrangements have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
