Dorothy Smith, 86, of Imlay City, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008 after an extended illness at Medilodge of Yale.

Dorothy Loague was born on June 14, 1921. She was the daughter of Howard and Lottie (Carpenter) Loague born in Almont. She grew up in Imlay City, Almont and Romeo.

Dorothy graduated from Imlay City High School class of 1939.

She lived most of her life in the Imlay City area. She married Gerald Butler Smith on June 22, 1946 in Lapeer. Gerald passed away February 26, 1985.

Dorothy had been employed with AAA in Port Huron; waitress for Homestead Restaurant in Imaly City and was a bookkeeper at Imlay City Oil.

She was a member of the Imlay City United Methodist Church and the Imlay City VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler. She bowled for many years on the Muir Brothers - Imlay City team and also bowled on the Saturday Night Holy Rollers league.

Dorothy enjoyed going to the Imlay City Lamb Steele Senior Center to visit and play bingo.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Rudy (Ginny) Heidenreich of Imlay City; grandsons, Todd Heidenreich of Montgomery Village, MD, Ryan Heidenreich of Imlay City, and Jesse (Renea) Heidenreich of Oak Harbor, Washington; and by a great-granddaughter, Cattibrie Lyn Heidenreich. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 21 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Pastor Kevin Harbin with Imlay City United Methodist Church officiated with burial at Attica Township Cemetery.
