Kenneth Williams

Died: Friday, December 28, 2007
Age: 91
Kenneth Williams of Allenton, died Friday, December 28, 2007 at Marwood Manor in Port Huron after a long struggle through life’s journey that lasted 91 years.

Kenneth Warren Williams was born November 11, 1916 in Richmond. His parents were James and Margaret (Chapman) Williams. He grew up in the Riley Center and Memphis areas. He was a hard, yet indearingly funny man; always capable of change, yet predictably unyielding.

He was a share-cropper at age 14 and was out on his own for what was to be a long hard life. At age 21, he found greater opportunity for a married man and he found the woman to marry. He was married to Genevieve Bell Smith on November 27, 1937 in Rochester. Their union lasted 44 years. Genevieve died on October 17, 1981 after a valiant fight against breast cancer. He mourned her passing and that of a son and a granddaughter for the remainder of his life. They had a farm on Dryden Road in Allenton. He was always a farmer. Not only was he a crop farmer and a dairy farmer, but he was a very good carpenter. He worked at Ben Haven’s Lumber Yard in Almont and at the Almont Gray Iron Foundry in Imlay City.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet (Norman) Krauss of Capac; sons, Howard (Barbara) Williams of Fostoria, Stanley (Merry) Williams of Allenton, and Kenneth (Bernie) Williams of Onaway; and brothers, Morrice Williams of New Hudson and Donald (Claudia) Williams of Zephyrhills, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve in 1981; a son, Clifford Williams; an infant granddaughter, Candy; brother, Russell Williams; and sister, Ruth Hooper.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 31 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. The Reverend Robert D. Chapman (a nephew) officiated. Burial followed in the West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of St. Clair County. Special thanks is expressed to the staff of Marwood Manor for their most appreciated care of our beloved father.
