Glen C. Wells, 91, of Lapeer, former resident of Almont from 1953 through 2006, passed away Monday November 19, 2007 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 27, 1916 in Given, West Virginia the son of George and Flora (Rogers) Wells. He moved to Roseville in 1926, worked on his stepfather’s farm and graduated from Roseville High School in 1934 as an all star basketball player.

He married Narcia Williams in 1939. Glen had also worked at Pontiac Motor, General Motors in Flint and Hurd Lock in Almont. Eventually Glen went into business with Arcadia Popovicci becoming part owner of Hurd Lock until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Almont, a Boy Scout leader in Capac, Explorer’s leader in Almont, a Member and past president of the Almont Lions Club, served on the Henry Stephens Memorial Library Board and the Almont Village Council for 12 years serving as president 1 year until he moved out of the village. He and his wife Narcia moved to Lapeer in 2006.

He is survived by his wife Narcia; one daughter, Diane (Edward) Thompson of Almont; one son, James (MaryAnn) Wells of Plymouth, IN; two grandsons Mark Thompson of Arling-ton, TX and Morey (Eileen) Wells of Farmers Branch, TX; and 2 great-grandchildren, Nathanial and Elizabeth Thompson of Farmers Branch, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Marjorie Criss.

Visitation will be held Friday from 3-8 p.m. and funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont. Burial will be made in Ferguson Cemetery in Almont. Memorials may be made to the Henry Stephens Memorial Library or the Almont Lions Club.
