Anna Ignasiak, 95, of Imlay City, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Heartland Hospice Manor in Ann Arbor.

Anna Ignasiak was born on March 31, 1912 in Schoenbeck, Germany. She was the daughter of Wilhelm and Eva (Papajewski) Stein. She and her family moved to the United States in 1925 and she grew up in the Detroit area.

Anna had been a resident of Imlay City since the mid 1940s.

She married Francis Walter Ignasiak on July 20, 1935 in Detroit. He passed away in 1984.

Anna was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Imlay City, Imlay City VFW Auxiliary and she was a “Rosie the Riveter’’ in the 1940s during World War II at an aircraft plant near Detroit.

She was a foreman at Vlasic Foods in Imlay City for 17 years and worked with her husband on their Brown City Road farm until they retired in the 1970s.

She is survived by her son, Terrence (Connie) Ignasiak of Gun Lake; daughter, Diana (Lee) Noll of Whitmore Lake; 6 grandchildren, Tammy Singleton, Tonya Sundstrom, Todd Ignasiak, Tricia Hawkins, Amanda Scoggin and Mick Noll; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Walter Ignasiak; parents and brothers, John Stein and William Stein.

Funeral service was held Saturday, November 3, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Imlay City. Pastor Alan Casillas officiated with burial at Imlay Township Cemetery.
