Elmer Russell Duckert, 90, of Almont, passed away at his home October 9, 2007.

Elmer was born July 21, 1917 in Romeo the son of Charles and Mabel (Meier) Duckert.

Early in life Elmer lived in the Romeo and Armada areas, and for the last 55 years he has been a resident of Almont Township. He was a lifetime farmer and Farm Bureau member. He had also been employed by Champion Home Builders of Dryden for 22 years, retiring in 1977.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Ada (Hardenburg) formerly of Dryden; 2 sons, Jerry (Cindy) Duckert and Dale (Cyndi) Duckert, both of Imlay City; daughter, Gayle (Doug) Desmet of Almont; 7 grandchildren, Tim (Marsha) Duckert of St. Johns, Angie (Patrick) Adams of Alpena, Nathan (Nicki) Duckert of Yale, Heidi (Jeff) Schluessler of Almont, Wendy (Todd) Fisher of Lapeer, Teresa (Dave) Peterson of Metamora, and Charlie (Kathy) Duckert of Morriston, FL.; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Berger of Ray; sister-in-law, Jane Duckert of Armada; and brother-in-law, Ray Pallister of Port St. Lucie, FL. Also surviving are 2 step-daughters, Kay Hardenburg and Karen Harbar, both of Dryden; step-son DeCarol Jr. Hardenburg of Guntown, MS; 4 step-grandchildren, Myrna Harbar of Madison Heights, DeCarol III Hardenburg of Guntown, MS, Amber Desmet of Pompano Beach, FL., Amy Wilcox of Elba, and 5 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Pallister of Almont, in April 1982, after 41 years of marriage. Also preceding him in death are his parents; 2 brothers, Harold and Melvin; and 2 sisters, Gladys and Marion.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lapeer County FFA.

Visitation will be at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City, today (Wed., Oct. 10) from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday from 1-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City with Pastor Steven Helms of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dryden officiating. Burial will follow at West Berlin Cemetery, Allenton.
