Janice J. Martz VanderPloeg

Janice J. Martz VanderPloeg

Died: Friday, August 17, 2007
Age: 65
Janice J. VanderPloeg, 65, of Mulberry, Florida, (formerly of Imlay City) entered the Church Triumphant, on August 17, 2007 following a courageous fight with cancer.

Janice Joy was born March 17, 1942 in Almont, to Clifford and Alta (Stern) Martz, graduating from Imlay City High School in 1960. She married Andy VanderPloeg, June 11, 1961 in Imlay City.

Janice had two passions; for her Lord Jesus and for her family. It was her unfailing faith in God and trust in His grace, which sustained her in the weeks before her death.

Before retiring to Florida in 1993, Jan had worked for a number of businesses in Imlay City and was a foster mother. She enjoyed golfing, quilting, crocheting for family and for the neo-natal unit of hospitals in Florida and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the North Goodland Baptist Church both of Imlay City.

Jan is survived by her loving husband Andy of Mulberry; she was a devoted mother to son, Daniel (Laura) of Lum; and daughters, Wendy Archer, JoAnn Cole, and Rachel (Terry) Maynard, all of Florida and Tracy (Gary) Underwood of Virginia. She was the beloved grandmother of Laura Archer, Joshua (Kris) and Jason Cole, Joel and Christopher Vander-Ploeg, Kimberly and Eric Underwood, Zachary and Anna Maynard, and Aaron and Nicole Knowlton. Also surviving are brother David (Kathy) Martz of Georgia; sisters, Marilyn Seidell of Dryden and Mary Jo (David) Mulder of Florida; brothers-in-law, Leonard (Nancy) VanderPloeg, of Imlay City, David (Debbie) Vander-Ploeg, of Attica, and David (Evie) Herbert of Alpena; sister-in-law Judy VanderPloeg of Imlay City; and a large extended family and many loving friends. All will miss her great smile and marvelous hugs. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Peter Seidell, Jim and Harold VanderPloeg and sister-in-law, Lois Herbert.

A memorial service in celebration of Janice’s life will take place in Mulberry on October 20 and in Imlay City at a later date.

II Timothy 4:7 is a testimony to her life; I have fought the good fight, I have

finished the race, I have kept the faith.
