Lucile Swain Hough

Lucile Hough, 97, of Lapeer passed away June 3, 2007 at The Pines of Lapeer.

Lucile Swain was born on March 26, 1910 in Brown City. She was the daughter of Clyde E. and Annie (Paton) Swain. She grew up in Almont and Highland Park.

Lucile graduated from Highland Park High School. She attended the University of Michigan and earned a bachelorís degree in 1932. She was employed as a personnel trainer for a major department store.

Lucile married Walter Wells Hough on May 29, 1971 at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Imlay City. He died in January 1998.

In her new life with Walter Wells Hough, back in Almont she became an instant mother and grandmother. She was active in Welcome Wagon, was a Hospice volunteer, tutor with Family Literacy Center, a member of Almont Home Study Club and Almont Book Club.

Lucile was a member of First Congregational Church of Almont, attended St. Paulís Lutheran Church of Imlay City and the First Presbyterian Church of Lapeer.

She is survived by step-sons, W. James (Judy) Hough of Johnís Island, South Carolina and Dr. J. Christopher (Cheryl) Hough of Midland; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Hollingsworth of Bear Lake, MN; and sisters-in-law, Joy Wilson of Almont, Ada Van Dyk of Almont and June Hough of Romeo. She is preceded in death by her step-daughter, Janice Schopler and brother, Wilber Swain.

A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lapeer. Pastor Todd Smith will officiate.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. at the church.

Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
