Leota M. Pohl, 88, of Hubbard Lake passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 at home.

Leota was born October 4, 1918 to Willard and Edith (Tibbits) Bishop in St. Clair County. She married Harold Carr on December 14, 1935. Together they owned and operated Carr's Grocery in Hubbard Lake and she also worked at Spruce General Store and Barton City General Store. He preceded her in death September 15, 1966.

On November 7, 1981 she married Arthur Pohl.

She loved her flowers and the lake. She was a member of Spruce Lutheran Church and the Eastern Stars of Michigan. She spent many years hunting and fishing with her husband Art, and she loved her family.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Pohl; 5 daughters, Nancy (Norm) Braidwood of Almont, Judith (William) Jones of Harrisville, Joyce (Dale) Rondeau of Spruce, Peggy (Richard) West of Spruce, and Julie (John) Hanner of Spruce; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie (Junior) Quade; brother, Willard (Artis) Bishop; and sister-in-law, Rose Bishop. She was preceded in death by one grandson, John Michael Peterson; 2 brothers, Orville and Keith; and 2 sisters Beatrice Janosh and Marie Hayes.

Visitation for Mrs. Pohl will be on today (Wed., May 30) at the Spruce Lutheran Church where friends may call from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the Muir Funeral Home of Almont from 2-8 p.m. and where funeral service will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Laraine Sundin officiating.

Arrangements by Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment will take place in East Berlin Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Spruce Lutheran Church or Hospice of Michigan.
