Peter William Connolly of Armada Township, formerly of Ray Township, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at his residence at the age of 47 years.

Peter was born July 16, 1959 in Detroit, a son of James D. and Marie (nee VanZanen) Connolly. On August 8, 1980, Peter married Karen Lynn Konie at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Park. He was the owner of Union Excavating Company of Washington Township.

Peter was active in 4-H and the Lapeer County Livestock Program. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond and active in the fish fry dinners and Capital Campaign. He also enjoyed ice hockey.

Surviving are his wife, Karen; daughters, Abby Marie Connolly, Meghan Lynn Connolly and Kelly Ann Connolly, all of Armada Township; parents, James and Marie Connolly of Grosse Pointe Park and Naples, Florida; sister, Lauri Connolly of Harper Woods; and brother, James (Kathy) Connolly of East Jordan.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today (Wed., May 16) at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 68035 Main, Richmond. The Rev. Fr. James Commyn, pastor of St. Lucy Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Richmond.

Rosary service was held Tuesday evening at Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home in Armada.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Lapeer Co. 4-H Swine Dept. Scholarship Fund, Melanoma Research Foundation, 24 Old Georgetown Rd., Princeton, NJ 08540, St. Augustine Catholic Church Capital Campaign, Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School Capital Campaign, 660 S. Water St., Marine City, MI 48039 or the Hospice of Michigan, 400 Mack Ave., Detroit, MI 48201.
