A very special Angel, Joann Whybrew of Port Huron, donated 125 of her treasured Beanie Baby collection, (gifts from her husband Charlie), to Marysville American Legion Riders of Post 449.
Charlie served in the U.S. Marines service Branch and is currently a member of our St Clair County Allied Veterans Council Honor Guard. Joann and Charlie in conversation with John Jeffries (Honor Guard and Post 449 Legion Rider Director), and Vicky Jeffries (Post 449 Legion Rider), the decision was made to donate her precious collection to the Marysville American Legion Post 449 Veteran's Children Christmas Party, held on Sun., Dec. 5. Joann's wish was for her and Charlie to be present at the Party and watch the joy and excitement of the children as they received the collectable Beanie Baby from Santa. Joann, fighting illness, to our regrets, recently passed and was unable to attend the event. You can be assured Joann was watching from heaven and surely her heart is full.
The children receiving the gifts were very excited, appreciative and thankful for the extra special gift this year. Joann and Charlie's generosity put treasured smiles, joy, comfort and fond memories in over 100 families and children's hearts and faces that day. Joann and Charlie, your generosity will not be forgotten and Joann's memory lives on in our hearts.
