Almont manís kindness helped family in a pinch

To the Editor:

Have you ever been stranded and felt helpless? My family and I recently were and I'd like to applaud a local business owner who through his kindness and generosity prevented our situation from being worse.

The gentleman is Mitch Mayer, owner of 4M Collision on Van Dyke in Almont. My wife, son and I were returning from a vacation in Florida and just 10 minutes east of Detroit Metro Airport we found ourselves experiencing car trouble. I pulled off the closest exit from I94, which was Livernois and if you've ever been in this area you'll understand when I say that I was very nervous; the time was 9 p.m.

Mitch and I are members of a local networking chapter so luckily I had his cell phone number. When I called to ask if he could recommend a towing company that wouldn't take advantage of my situation he went above and way beyond that request. When he called me back there was a tow truck en route to take our vehicle to his Hall Road shop and Mitch was also on his way from 30 miles north to pick my family and me up. He let us borrow his personal vehicle so that we could make it home safely and told me to return it the next day when I picked up my repaired car.

You know as well as I do that such care by another human being is often rare. I can never thank Mitch enough but I can say that if you find yourself in need of auto repair due to a break down, deer strike, or an accident you will not find better service than 4M Collision.
