Sparks give ‘shout out’ to their supporters

To the Editor:

The Imlay City Sparks 14U Girls Fast Pitch Travel Softball Team would like to thank everyone who made our Hits 4 Hope Softball Tournament, held Saturday, September 25th at Imlay City High School, a huge success! The Imlay City Sparks 14U team held this event in order to raise both awareness and much needed funds for The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. We are very proud to report that through this event we were able to raise approximately $1,000.00!

We had the support of businesses and individuals alike that made very generous donations. A heartfelt thank you goes to Dimmer's, Zone Productions, Ian Kempf of the Eastern Michigan Fairgrounds, Renae Ringler of Just Imagine, Jay's Septic and, of course, Imlay City High School who allowed us to host our tournament on their grounds. A very special thank you goes to our umpires, Floyd Wells & Ken Hummel, who very generously donated their time. We are also very grateful to the many families who donated many items necessary to the success of this event—the Coulter family, the Cowell family, the Hayward family, the McKillop family, the McLendon family, the Nelson family, the Rodriguez family and the Roles family.

Our team cannot function without fundraising, but we took this opportunity to raise funds for another very worthy cause. This event was very rewarding to our entire team because the mother of one of our players is a breast cancer survivor, Marsey Nelson. Marsey, along with her husband, Jeff and her daughters, Brooke and Morgan worked tirelessly to make this event a success. Thank you Nelson family!

Thank you to everyone who supported us in every way! We could not have done it without you!

Sincerely,

—Imlay City Sparks 14U
