Vlasic shows no concern for community, employees

To the Editor:

The Pinnacle Food Corporation, which owns Vlasic pickle plant in Imlay City, has terminated close to 200 people in the past month. What started as alleged "unemployment fraud" with a few workers has turned into a number of regular, full-time workers being let go at the same time...with no reasons being given.

I do not work there, but know people that do and some that have been fired have been there 28 plus years. It seems that the company is getting rid of anyone with seniority, good benefits and

pensions and replacing them with part time temps and possible illegal citizens. These are local hardworking people who have nothing to fall back on.

Shame on Vlasics for turning the other way at a time when loyalty and good workers mean everything!!! At a time where everyone wants to buy American and support American citizens, I think it's time big companies do the same!!
