The anticipated outcome of any sporting event is to win. However, for one school, a recent game meant so much more.
The North Branch girls' varsity and junior varsity (JV) soccer teams played in a cancer awareness game on May 10 in an effort to raise cancer awareness and funds for the Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) United Hospice Service. Each individual member of the 19 girl varsity team and the 18 girl JV team played in memory or in honor of a friend or family member that has dealt with cancer.
The junior varsity team played against Cros-Lex and the varsity team went on to win 8-0 against Caro. A total of $800 was raised to benefit the patients and families of United Hospice Service of MRH.
