Project draws donors

To the Editor:

Mr. Powers 5th grade service-learning project to help students less fortunate than themselves was very successful, raising funds for children in need as well as teaching Borland Elementary students the importance of helping others. We are pleased to have made more this year than in any previous year. We could not have accomplished this without the support of area individuals and merchants. Many of the people in attendance are already planning on this becoming an annual event.

It was wonderful to see individuals and business supporting our students with their wonderful project to think of children less fortunate than themselves while learning the importance of giving back.

Everyone enjoyed the services offered by the employees of Infinity Health Care in Lapeer who gave up their Saturday afternoon to offer chair massages at the bowling alley. They donated half of their earnings to the students' project.

We appreciate Carl and Connie Crawford of Cedar Lanes Bowling alley in Imlay City for being so willing to do all they could to help us with this project.
