Attica has allowed a 'Pleasant Soul' to fade away almost unnoticed. The whole area should mourn this 'soul's' demise. It rarely happens that a dynamic young entrepreneur places her trust in the public, opens a business and supports local community events without as much as a "thank you." Lapeer County is not exactly a hotbed of new business. The birth three years ago of a pleasant soul in our midst should have been celebrated and promoted.
The Pleasant Soul Cafe was Attica's very own "Cheers," a place where you were 'home' and everybody knew your name.
"The Soul" was packed to capacity Friday evening, while the musicians played 'The Night Old Dixie Died,' it seemed rather fitting for a wake. Angie Burgess is a class act, as is her staff. The food was delightfully unique and the ambience of the cafe setting was always uplifting. If you needed a smile, a smile was the first item on the menu and always freely given.
