Armstrong most qualified candidate

To the Editor:

Mona Armstrong's courtroom experience, knowledge of the office, demonstrated dedication and ability, commitment to ethics, and devotion to St. Clair County residents make her the most qualified person to be our next Circuit Court Judge.

Mona began her career as a Research Attorney for St. Clair County Circuit Court Judge Peter E. Deegan. She worked closely with Judge Deegan regarding every facet of circuit court civil and criminal proceedings. This critical experience provided her with a unique understanding of the day to day work of a Circuit Judge, and provided direct insight into all operations of the Circuit Court.

Since 1995 she has served St. Clair County as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. As a Senior Assistant Prosecutor, Mona now oversees the Major Crimes Unit handling most homicide and other high profile cases that occur in St Clair County. Mona is recognized as an expert in her field and is frequently requested to lecture for agencies across the state and nationally.

Mona's work has been recognized by our Community. In 1996, St. Clair County Community College asked Mona to serve as an adjunct professor teaching criminal justice, and she did so for five years. On multiple occasions, Mona was honored by the Port Huron Police Department, receiving a Citizens' Certificate in 1999, a Unit Citation Award in 2005, and Distinguished Service Award in 2009. In 2003, she was acknowledged as a Special Child Advocate by the St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council.

In addition to serving our County as a prosecutor, Mona has been deeply committed to various St. Clair County community organizations. She successfully balances her work and her community efforts with her deep commitment to her family. Mona resides in Fort Gratiot with her husband Todd, and their children, Alysse, 8 and Alex, 5. She is a constant supporter of her children's activities and the work of her church, St. Mary Catholic Church.

Mona has worked to ensure the safety and well-being our community. In utilizing her extensive courtroom experience, she is eager to continue her commitment to public service as the county's next Circuit Judge.

A Meet the Candidate night is slated for March 5 from 7-10 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post, 1005 Pte Tremble Rd., Algonac. All are welcome to attend these events. More information may be found at www.ArmstrongforJudge.com
