Letter writer misses spirit of season, among other things
To the Editor:
While most of the world this time of year focuses on peace, love and good will to all and we celebrate the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ, letter writer Joe Tribula (Dec. 23 issue, Letters to the Editor) can't seem to get in the spirit.
He drags up 10-year-old news to try to accuse the Republican party as war-mongering fascists.
He hails the Democrats as caring and sensitive. I've got some news for you Joe, and it's a real zinger! One word. Abortion.
Your Democrat party holds abortion as a sacred (excuse the term) idol in its party platform. When the so- called health reforms are passed in Congress your party jumps every hoop to keep abortion on demand in the health care legislation. They "gave away the farm" to Ben Nelson of Nebraska to get his 60th vote in the Senate. This includes 100% funding of Medicaid forever in the state of Nebraska. The only requirement was that at least one insurance policy in health care did not include abortion in each state. But every other health insurance policy in every state would include taxpayer funding of abortions for any reason at any time. This is the Democrat's dream.
Am I calling the Democrat party the party of death? When one fights so hard to kill unborn children what else would you call it?
We have excellent world class health care in this country. Doctors don't turn patients away because of money. That's something the Democrat party likes to throw around. A survey showed 61% of American people did not want the health care bills as presented. But your party shoved it through anyway. Does that really show that Democrats care what Americans think?
Joe, you discuss revolution because of social ills and you seem to espouse class warfare in every letter. There are several people in history who would be proud of you! Marx, Engel, and Lenin come to mind.
